Main characteristics of industrial decoration for your event

This style characterises for open spaces, but it is not its only charachteristic. To achieve an authetically industrial looking style in your own house

They say that in New York in the 50´s, a lot of the artists in its streets, got settled in old factories. Those big buildings, with open spaces and brick walls, became their dens and they are now a decorating style that is very trendy. Welcome to the space where we talk about industrial decoration.

Characteristics of industrial decoration

As we have previously advanced, this style is charachterised by open spaces, but it is not its only characteritic. To achieve an authentical industrial look in your own home, you will need to follow the upcoming steps:

Very big spaces and maintaining the original structure

High ceilings and few walls, open spaces and different ambients that blend with each other. This is the number one rule. If you want the conference room to be distinguishable from the dining room, you can always try to place a separating strucutre, for example, a bamboo structure. In the next point, we talk about the materials that are most commonly used.

Wrought iron and minimalism

Effectively, if something characterises this decoration, it´s the abscence of elements. Also, it is used as a main element, wrought iron. Therefore, using lámparas de pie de color negro, that draw a unique line, is a sure bet.

Colors and textures

Given that minimalism is a fundamental part of this trend, we need to follow this guideline for textiles: We can use cotton, linen or even burlap. As for the colors:

– For the decorative elements we use dark colors that will remind us of materials that remind us of factory materials. Black, bronze or any melt metal colors, particularly iron, should be one of the central elements. Always adding details like the lamp mentioned earlier or decorative elements.

– We can combine them with neutral textiles. They will be perfect with earthy colors, whites, greys, pale colors and beige.

Combine everything with retro accessories

At the beggining we have explained that this style was born in the fifties. If you want your industrial decoration to be an absolute success, add some retro accessories. Even a combination of both, like a nevera de Coca-Cola vintage that will also serve to complete your bar or buffet.

Nude walls

If you are lucky enough to organise n event in a pace that mantains the characteristics of an old factory, keep the walls empty and the pipes visible and use them as decorating accessories. To add detail, you can place vintage information boards here and there to show what will be happening in each area.

Decoration touches

If what you want is to give only a little industrial touch to your event you can add some accessories to the ones already mentioned: use metal balls instead of center pieces, or black iron table numbers.
But the most important, is to keep the width of the space and to use materials that remind of factories in the 50s. They will assure a unique event!
